Dr Anna Johanson grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and her interest in medicine began after spending time in a rural clinic in the Appalachian Mountains. She is passionate about preventive medicine and caring for the medically underserved in her community. She especially enjoys pediatrics, women’s health, urgent care, and procedures. Outside of medicine, she loves spending time with her husband Tim and two children Hawk and Blaze, as well as ART, traveling, CrossFit and being in the mountains

Whether you are struggling with addiction, navigating a life transition, or processing trauma - I help you build the skills you need to connect more deeply to your truest essence. I am an integrative therapist bringing a blend of body-oriented (somatic) and client-centered approaches.

In my work, I like to meet people where they are and assist in their healing journey. I specialize in working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety and trauma-related symptoms. I have a special interest in understanding the ways our bodies hold onto emotions and helping people process those emotions. I believe each person knows themselves best and I am here to support you in finding what works best for you.

Heather is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a strong foundation in nursing and a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado where she trained across diverse clinical settings. Her background as a registered nurse includes emergency medicine, community mental health, case management, and cardiology. These are experiences allow her to approach mental health care with a holistic and medically informed perspective.

Heather values building genuine rapport with patients and strives to create a therapeutic space that feels approachable, empathetic, and empowering. Heather is deeply committed to advocacy and curiosity, integrating evidence-based medication management with lifestyle-informed approaches such as nutrition, movement, sleep, and overall wellness. She strongly believes patients know themselves best and treatment planning involves shared decision making and collaboration.

Outside of clinical practice, Heather values time with family and her dogs and cat. She enjoys triathlon training, skiing, and mountain biking, along with many other outdoor pursuits. She understands balance and connection are essential components of mental health and well-being.

I believe in the importance of partnership in the client-therapist relationship. We both have meaningful parts to bring to the session. You know yourself best and what you would like to gain from our time together. I aim to work within your value system and current goals as we construct solutions together. In that process, I will also be sharing skills with you around body awareness, recognizing emotion, and coping with stress.
